Last Wednesday at the Super Robertson Supper Show,
the Legion of Flying Monkeys, my earnest and longsuffering band played
a 45 minute set to the sound of applause and cheering from friends and
casual observers at the Railway Club.
Staging is a fine art form. Part of the discipline is creating a suitable space for
one’s audience. I arranged chairs beforehand so as to create a space up front
that would allow participants to stand at audience mikes. The effect was
predictable, now that I look back – my friends sat in the back of the room
while some innebriate dumbass gargled his life story into my face for the duration
of our songs. Rage is a fierce focal tool.
Our best show ever.
